Consent or Inform?
We recommend consulting parents and guardians before scheduling student counselling.
At 13, adolescents are old enough to consent for themselves.
Contact a counsellor to address this.
Safeguarding
PATHWAY Therapy puts young peoples' safety first. We use safer recruitment processes to guarantee that all our counsellors are adequately qualified, DBS verified (improved). Our counsellors report to a case manager at PATHWAY Therapy and get monthly clinical supervision. If our counsellors have any concerns, they will immediately inform your school's designated safeguarding lead and follow your policy.
Mr Carl is a certified Level 4 - Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
How Long & When Are Sessions?
There is a 55-minute time limit on each online therapy session.
Unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon with the therapist, appointments are typically scheduled at the same time each week.
If the school thinks the parents can handle it, they may arrange for the sessions to be held at home. Please inform a PATHWAY Therapist of your interest in this option.
The Legal Stuff
PATHWAY Therapy explicitly states that it does not offer, conduct, or provide any diagnostic assessments for legal purposes. All documentation and materials utilised during therapeutic sessions are solely intended to enhance and guide the therapy process. Any communications exchanged between PATHWAY Therapy and clients, parents, caregivers, or any other individuals involved, serve exclusively for the purpose of facilitating therapeutic support interventions. Under no circumstances may these communications or any related documentation be employed or presented in any legal context.
Equipment Needs & Platform
You need only ensure you have access to a computer, laptop or other appropriate digital device with stable and secure internet connection - by secure, we mean that no one else can hear your conversation with your therapist.
Furthermore, all sessions will be held on Google Meets unless otherwise agreed with Mr Carl or another therapist.
Is PATHWAY Therapy Suitable for Every Young Person?
In short - NO!
While Mr Carl is able to provide therapeutic intervention for a diverse range of personal issues, it is not always possible, indeed, not appropriate to provide such therapeutic intervention to every young person presenting in need.
You're best to call Mr Carl directly and have a talk with him to ensure that everything is clearly understood and agreed.
Unfortunately, PATHWAY Therapy is unable to provide therapy support to children with severe visual impairment or other challenging behaviours that would necessitate additional multiple learning needs support.
Age Ranges of Young People
To ensure the most appropriate level of therapeutic support and expertise is provided, Mr Carl is able to provide therapy to children and young people aged 12 to 25.
